2018 Project Life // January

It's been a long time since I last shared my Project Life pages on my blog. I took a break from Project Life last year to focus on finishing some mini books, and that means I'm super behind in my PL album. I haven't given up on it though, and I plan to work on both my 2017 and 2018 pages simultaneously. Today I'll be sharing my pages for January 2018! I haven't done 12x12 pocket pages in a while, so it was fun to go back to using this size. I still find 12x12 to be the best solution for my everyday pages, because I can fit a whole year into one album.

Here's a look at my spreads this month:

In a Creative Bubble productsHello 2018 cards (cheers card), Everyday Moments cards (today card, striped card, highlights card)

I thought this striped card was a great way to add color to my page. The large number stickers are from Basic Grey and they have been in my stash for several years. I'm down to the last few letters and alphas and I kinda wish I had more of them!

When I work on putting together my spreads, one thing I focus on is colour. That's why the yellow 'family fun' card works perfectly here; it coordinates with the yellow at the bottom of the spread (from the photos of my niece and the yellow notebook) and helps create balance in the overall layout.

In a Creative Bubble products: Everyday Moments cards (black card, real life card), Family Time cards (family fun card)

I wrote out 馬 (which means 'horse') with a brush pen, scanned the lettering, and added it to my photo in Photoshop.

In a Creative Bubble products: Yes cards (snippets card), Around Town cards (local fave card), Spring Break cards (navy 'makes me happy' card)

I was inspired by recent adventures to make the Around Town set. The cards are perfect for documenting those days when you're just out and about in the city.

I had room to add a filler card to this spread, so I had fun layering some of my favourite supplies - an Ali Edwards die-cut heart (from the Heart story kit) + a Studio Calico chipboard circle + washi tape.

In a Creative Bubble products: Hello 2018 cards (black card), Recorded cards no. 7 (excited card, you are here card), Everyday Moments cards (Hello Today card), Snippets cards (red card), Around Town digital stamps

It was an awesome coincidence that my digital stamp fit perfectly inside the circle of this colourful mural.

Shop Update

Hello, hello. I would say Happy February but it's already more than a week into this month! How crazy is that?! Let's get right into it. Today I'm sharing the first In a Creative Bubble shop update for February :) Check out the new products here.

Here's what is new this month:

Heart Journaling Cards
I was inspired to design a new set of cards that embrace the theme of love, since it's February after all. These cards aren't specific to special relationships though; they can also be used to document things or places you love. I was tempted to go with a pastel color scheme but added in some black and dark green for contrast. There's some subtle pattern and type play happening as well, in the words 'love' and 'xoxo'. Super happy with how those cards turned out!

Lunar New Year Journaling Cards
It's been a long time since I last made 'lunar new year' themed cards. Personally, it's a cultural holiday that makes its way into my Project Life albums every year, so I'm not sure why it took me so long to design this set! It's definitely been long overdue. I had a lot of fun brainstorming what to include here and had to narrow down my ideas to fit this set. The illustrated cards just might be my favorite. In case you're wondering why there are mandarin oranges included here, these fruits are often part of lunar new year traditions since they symbolize good luck. The Chinese character above the oranges is 福 (fú) which means good luck.

Getaway Journaling Cards
New travel themed cards, because who doesn't love travel? Ha. I had a couple of ideas brewing in my head so I decided to make this set as part of the Feb release. As always, the designs are a mix of my usual clean + colorful style/aesthetic. These cards are definitely going to make their way into my travel minis!

Recorded Journaling Cards No.7
I always try and include at least one everyday themed set of cards as part of my shop update, and this time it's a new set of Recorded cards. This is the 7th set of the popular Recorded series, and it continues to be black and white (making them super versatile!) with a fun mix of clean and script type. Lots of room for journaling and this series of cards is still my favorite for getting my stories documented in my albums.

That's it! Just a note, I've moved the individual products from the 2016 Joyful holiday collection to the Last Chance section of the store. They will be retired after Sunday, March 4th. The collection bundle will stay in the shop for now,  but I want to continue to make room for new products and designs. Thanks for understanding!

Hope you all have a lovely weekend :) xo.

Travel Album // New Class at BPC!

Hey everyone! I'm excited to announce that I have a new class up at Big Picture Classes called Travel Album. It's a fun-filled class that's all about creating a 4x4 mini album to document your travel memories. Some of my favourite travel mini-books on my shelf  are these little 4x4 ones (like my Seattle album from a few years ago), so I was happy to put together this class for BPC to show you my process of creating a 4x4 travel album.

In the lessons, I share with you tried-and-true tips and tricks for printing photos, gathering supplies, and sorting through memorabilia. Then I'll walk you through some cool techniques and ideas to bring everything together and to add layers and stamping to your pages. There's a mix of photo-based lessons and video lessons, and at the end of class is a walk-through video of my completed album :)

I also had the fun opportunity to design a new 4x6 travel themed stamp set to go along with this class. You'll see me using this set in the lessons, and I wanted to make sure the designs were versatile and useful for all your travel documenting.

I've been working on this class since last year, so it's really exciting to see it now go live on the site. I hope to see you there! :)
